The Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW (HL110SA, Harvia item HL11U1SAUL / HL11U3SAUL) is a floor-standing electric sauna heater with a built-in 2.1 kW steamer, in a black-painted steel casing, for sauna rooms of 177–635 cu ft. It heats the sauna the usual way or with its steamer, whose 1.3 gal (5 L) tank gives about 2 hours of steam, and liquid fragrances or fragrance bags can be used in the steamer. It runs on 240 V single-phase power on two supply circuits or, as the HL11U3SAUL, 208 V three-phase, holds up to 154 lb (70 kg) of stones, and needs a separate Harvia Combi control.
Which control does the Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW need?
The Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW needs a Harvia Combi control, which runs the heater and the steamer: a plain Xenio or Fenix cannot run the steamer. The 240 V model takes the Harvia Xenio Combi CX30C-U1-XW or the Harvia Fenix Combi FX30C-U1-XC, and the 208 V three-phase model the Harvia Xenio Combi CX30C-U3-XW or the Harvia Fenix Combi FX30C-U3-XC, all sold separately. The Xenio Combi can be set from 104 to 194°F (40–90°C) and from 20 to 80% humidity; it runs the heater for up to 1 hour per start and can delay a start by up to 12 hours, and the CX30C-U1-XW has Wi-Fi for Harvia's MyHarvia app.

Does the Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW fit my sauna?
The Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW heats sauna rooms of 177–635 cu ft (5–18 m³) with 28–102 sq ft of floor, according to Harvia's Virta Combi manual 26092023/Y05-0898. Harvia's sizing rule adds 1.2 m³ for every square meter of uninsulated brick, glass block, glass, concrete or tile wall, about 3.9 cu ft per sq ft, and a glass door counts: Harvia's example is a 10 m³ room with a glass door, which needs the output of a 12 m³ room. The Virta manual multiplies the volume of a log sauna by 1.5.

How is the Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW installed?
The Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW stands on the sauna floor on adjustable legs, which level it. Harvia's manual asks for a heat-resistant floor covering where the heater stands, because hot pieces of stone can damage floor coverings. Harvia allows one electric heater per sauna room unless several heaters share one control unit. The heater is hardwired: Harvia's manual allows no plug or receptacle in the sauna room, and only an authorized, licensed electrician may connect it. The control's power unit goes on a wall outside the sauna room, in a dry place above 32°F (0°C), and the WX248 temperature sensor that comes with the heater mounts above it. Your licensed electrician sizes the breaker and wire from the manual that ships with the heater and your local code. Harvia's installation manual, under Documents, gives the exact sensor, wiring and vent positions.

Does the sauna room need ventilation?
Yes. Harvia's Virta Combi manual calls for adjustable vents that change the air five times an hour: a supply vent low down beside the heater and an exhaust vent on the opposite wall. The manual gives their positions.
Does the Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW need a water line?
Only for automatic filling. The Harvia Virta Combi 10.5 kW's steamer can fill its 1.3 gal (5 L) tank automatically from a cold-water supply line with a shut-off valve and a vacuum breaker, at 22–58 psi (150–400 kPa), and Harvia recommends a floor drain. Without a water line, the tank is filled by hand, after a jumper in the heater is removed.
